The purpose of this web page is to allow access to the public data from the Objectify project (see About page) via the Internet without having the Objectify programs installed on your computer.

Currently I have enabled access to the information on public files. At this point the only files I have entered into the Public Objects are the Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Kubuntu-KDE4, Edubuntu, Xubuntu, Gobuntu, Ubuntu Studio, Jeos, and Mythbuntu Linux .iso (and wubi.exe) files.

(I want to add that I was astounded how many .iso files have been released just for Ubuntu Linux. When I started putting them in, I thought there would be maybe 30 or 40 files. But including the 8.04 releases, which came out after I started, there are a total of 372 files.)

They can be accessed by clicking these links:

At some point in the near future I am planning to add access to the other information stored in the Objectify public objects.

NOTES:

  1. I have not been able to find copies of the following three files: No Date, or SHA1, SHA256, SHA512 checksums will appear for those files.

  2. I have included the source .iso files that I could find. The source files appear to be spotty. For example I can't find any source .iso files for the 6.10 release. If anyone reading this can see any source .iso files that I am missing and knows they exist or existed at some point, please e-mail me at wowidb.org@gmail.com.

  3. The following source .iso files are empty: So I saw no point in entering them into the Public Objects. I filed Bug #234585 a few weeks ago (2008-05-24), but as of today (2008-06-14) the files still appear to be empty.

  4. I suspect these two .iso files are bad: Their size is too small (23.5 MB and 18 MB) to really be a complete release.

  5. And finally, for those playing at home, I forgot to include the gobuntu-8.04 .iso files in the 080614-0028 Public Objects. I have put the updated Public Objects (release 080616-0028), with the gobuntu-8.04 files on SourceForge.

I am also planning to import the Knoppix .iso files, and possibly FreeBSD and CentOS in the future.

And please, if anyone is willing to help by inputting the .iso files for their favorite OS or distro please e-mail me at wowidb.org@gmail.com.

Verifying Files with the Objectify programs

If you have the Objectify software (an Alpha version can be downloaded from the New World OS project on SourceForge) you can access the public information from the command line on your computer. For example the following command line will list the SHA1 checksums for the 8.04 Kubuntu .iso files:

$ list_files --public --sha1 kubuntu-8.04*.iso

num_refs: 372
477d4af76612ed2821272aad1edc2ef36a6bee5a kubuntu-8.04-alternate-amd64.iso
a5a132297a20921ac029f09ac63617971ef49550 kubuntu-8.04-alternate-i386.iso
077f04e349499470cc7c5f099b8f36d6450116a2 kubuntu-8.04-desktop-amd64.iso
2978e8a424a2296e6be540a69baa4ca336ddeb2f kubuntu-8.04-desktop-i386.iso
56ec7d41f07dba8e284c5f17204480bf1085a68d kubuntu-8.04-dvd-amd64.iso
4edaca0daaf7d43244def2aeddd11895842c806d kubuntu-8.04-dvd-i386.iso
f640c2b5ef17bb6bbaae70a1b57833cb7e48bca9 kubuntu-8.04-alternate-hppa.iso
05caad0f11d50452affbc3ed49a2a0b31c06343a kubuntu-8.04-alternate-powerpc.iso
7b38d90699963c94f2adc824d94d43231e899d24 kubuntu-8.04-alternate-sparc.iso
4a2bfb56f5bf8cd512a9166424e941887ba88c71 kubuntu-8.04-desktop-powerpc.iso
911ab89b4806f801558f8982cc62ff4fd6a7da93 kubuntu-8.04-src-1.iso
Number of files: 11

Or if, for example, you just downloaded the latest Xubuntu .iso file you could verify it with the following command:

$ verify_file --public xubuntu-8.04-desktop-i386.iso

xubuntu-8.04-desktop-i386.iso: (found path: yes file: yes) found: 0000638a
